Meeting on anti-propaganda laws with key actors and LGBT activists in Kyiv

On the 27-28 May, ILGA-Europe organised a meeting in Kyiv to debate strategies to tackle proposed law banning 'homosexual propaganda'.

10 LGBT activists from Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania and Moldova and representatives of international organisations (Human Rights Watch, Open Society Foundations, Article 19, Amnesty International, American Bar Association, Stonewall) took part in the event. At the meeting were also present representatives of the Council of Europe, European External Action Service of the European Union, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights as well as representatives of the Embassies in Ukraine (The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Canada, United States of America).

ILGA-Europe obtained a video message of support from Siiri Oviir, Estonian Member of the European Parliament (Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe). Check out the video message from Siiri Oviir here
