Training in Montenegro, 29-30 March 2011

On 29-30 March 2011 ILGA-Europe conducted a training on Human Rights Violations Documentation and Advocacy with the representatives from Juventas and LGBT Forum Progress, the two organisations working on LGBT issues in Montenegro.

During the training the participants were introduced to the international and regional human rights instruments and learned the main concepts, principles and methods of monitoring and documentation of human rights violations. They were further introduced to the concept of discrimination in EU law and policy and discussed the role of NGOs in monitoring and combating sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination cases. Through practical exercises they have also gained certain advocacy and lobbying skills. The training was conducted within the framework of ILGA-Europe’s Step Up project in the Western Balkans.
